Sun, May 28

The Day of Pentecost is celebrated 50 days after Easter. The festival of Pentecost is important because it represents the beginning of the Christian Church. It reminds us how Jesus' promise that God would send the Holy Spirit was fulfilled. Services on this day are marked by wearing red.

About the event
We celebrate this day as the “birthday” of St John’s.
As birthday presents to St John’s we give consumable supplies to the church. In the past we’ve had a list of needed supplies and church members purchased things needed. This includes: Paper supplies like paper towels, paper plates, plastic silverware and coffee cups; coffee and creamer; hand and dish soap; and cleaning supplies.
This year instead of shopping you simply need to visit the birthday money tree downstairs. Take an envelope and put cash or check inside and clip it to the tree. Thanks to kids in Godly Play for decorating envelopes and to Jane for decorating! Money will be used to restock supplies in the next few weeks and hopefully give us a little extra to fill in as needed later in the year.
Coffee hour on May 28, hosted by the Larsen’s, will include a birthday cake for the church and a celebration of Augusta’s birthday!
